Zander Speaks at Wet Paint

If you live in the Twin Cities, you know that Wet Paint is the only place in town that sells the legendary Pentel Pocket Brush Pen. Also, if you live anywhere else, you know that wetpaintart.com is the only place in the US that sells it online. Located near Macalester College in St. Paul, it's the place to be if you want good art supplies and someone knowledgeable to sell them to you.

I'm going to be speaking in the store tomorrow (Friday) evening from 5:30 to 7:30 about comics, art supplies, career advice, and I'll probably mention the Pocket Brush Pen a few times.

What I won't mention is that I do most of my drawing on a ream of Office Max printer paper.

Come on by and check it out. Ask me some personal questions. I don't mind.

Puny Interactive Wall in Urban Outfitters

** THIS WEEKEND ONLY **

The creative geniuses at Puny Entertainment have erected an interactive wall at the Uptown Urban Outfitters. What's an interactive wall, you ask? Let's just say that if you miss being at your cabin, taking a dip in the lake and feeling the fish nibble on your fingers ... prepare to not miss that feeling much longer.

More details are on the Puny Blog.

Remember, it's this weekend only. So if you're out of town hanging out with your family, you made a huge error.

For those of you like me, who have never been inside an Urban Outfitters, it's a place that sells clothes.

Zander Has a Pinup In the New Scott Pilgrim Book!

It hit the shelves this week, and it's awesome. Bryan Lee O'Malley's slice-of-life/kung-fu fantasy/video-game homage comic Scott Pilgrim is a bit of a pop-culture phenomenon, and one of my favorite comics ever, so when Bryan asked me to draw a pinup of Scott for the latest book, I jumped at the chance. It sits facing a pinup by Philip Bond, and you can't beat that company.

If you haven't read Scott Pilgrim yet and you're in a generation designated by a letter, WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU? Pick it up now and prepare to love it.

"Bone Sharps" in the Onion AV Club

The subject of Big Time Attic's first graphic novel, Jim Ottaviani's "Bone Sharps, Cowboys, and Thunder Lizards," has been highlighted in the Onion's AV Club. The heated rivalry between O.C. Marsh and E.D. Cope is often cited as one of the ten greatest scientific rivalries of all time. And who could blame Marsh and Cope for not being civilized when, for example, the railroads opened up great tracts of land just brimming with ancient species waiting to be discovered.

Note to Hollywood: The AV Club is right ... "Bone Sharps" is a great entertainment vehicle that will earn you billions of dollars when you buy the rights. In the meantime, click on the link to the right to buy up one of the remaining first editions of the graphic novel.

Of course, Zander and I believe that any time we touch pen to paper it merits a $30m feature film, so it's nice to see someone in the real world nod their head in that general direction as well.

Thanks to Dank! for the heads-up.
